JOAN CAREW ~ SCULPTURE

"Life was good in the Bronx, NY where I grew up making tar babies from the asphalt in the street and, much to everyone's dismay, followed my own life's purpose in discovering the process of figurative sculpture. I use earthenware clay that leaps out of the fire and shows the twists and turns of everyday life. My faces and figures are all a part of me and reflect my interpretation of the world around me. These figures are then fired four & five time or until they speak to me and tell me they are done."
